Policy Dialogue and Presidential Debates

In contribution to strengthening electoral process and good governance, Murtala Muhammed Foundation hosts Presidential Dialogue and Debate that brings Presidential Candidates to debate on issues of national importance and agenda setting. The programs create an avenue for candidates and citizens to air their views on key developmental challenges confronting the country and share their policy prescriptions on the way forward.

In 2011, the MMF hosted three (3) Presidential candidates to a policy dialogue and the keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Abdul Raufu Mustapha from Department of International Studies, University of Oxford. The panel discussions x-rayed Freedom of Information Bill and Police Reforms, and Petroleum Industry Bill and Power Road Map.

In 2012, the policy dialogue focused on creating Roadmap for Change and Nigeria’s Economic Development. The Dialogue brought together experts from the economy and financial sectors to deliberate and make strategic inputs on policy recommendation and actions required in strengthening the economy. Dr. Mansur Muhtar, Executive Director, World Bank Group spoke at the pre Policy Dialogue dinner and the keynote address was delivered by Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and the guest lecturers of the event were Mr. Aigoje Aig-Imoukhuede, Group Managing Director of Access Bank Plc and Mr. Bismarck Rewane, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Financial Derivatives Company Limited.
