Niyi is presently the National Program Coordinator of Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF), Lagos. He assumed this position on 22 September 2014. In this capacity, he oversees the development, coordination, administration and expansion of all MMF program activities, while coming in with strategic new innovations and ideas to strengthen and deepen existing and new programs. Before this appointment, he was the Cooperative Manager and Head of Secretariat for Airtel Staff Cooperative Limited in Lagos. Before joining Airtel, he had worked with UNDP under the Millennium Promise sponsored Ikaram Millennium Villages Project, Ondo State cluster as Team Leader and Operations Manager. At the MVP and together with the networks of partners, his project demonstrated that the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were both attainable and achievable. He ensures very strong and effective coordination amongst the diverse stakeholders at the local, national and international levels. He brings over 14years of diverse experience in corporate governance, policy formulation, programme and project management, international development, capacity building, finance and administration.
His working career started in the Special Projects Unit (Budget and Finance Division) of International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in 1997. Prior to joining the MVP in 2007, he worked in the public sector (Information Processing Unit) of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Lagos and in a participatory planning project, in the private sector as head of administration and marketing of Decrown (West Africa) Group, a chartered civil engineering firm responsible for the design and supervision of the N80bn (about $667m) Gurara Water Transfer Project in Abuja.
Niyi holds a master’s degree in business administration from the prestigious University of Ibadan, bachelors of Science degree in management and accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, senior financial analyst certificate from Lagos Business School (LBS) and IDPM certification in computing. In addition, he has obtained certificates in project management, GPS, Microsoft project, executive media programme, etc. Niyi has attended short courses, seminars and workshops both locally and internationally. He is an associate of Nigerian Chartered Institute of Management. Niyi loves reading, meeting people, sports and travel – he has been to more than 15 countries in 3 continents. He is committed to excellence and has penchant for new challenges.
